Our Projects
We are eager to take on new challenges. Since the day MakerBay was established, we have been working with makers, community centers and the public in pursuit of creating an impact to the society, addressing environmental and social issues.

DBS InnoFuture Youth Programme
Supported by DBS Foundation, the DBS InnoFuture Youth Programme is a 1.5 years programme that aims at providing comprehensive upskill training on AI and No-code to improve digital literacy and competitiveness for the underserved youth of 15 – 24 years old. Through nurturing youth talents in building their no-code projects, it is expected to empower the digital transformation of the social sector.
Jockey Club AI Community Innovation Programme
Funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Jockey Club AI Community Innovation Programme is a 2.5-year hands-on education programme, bringing together participants from schools, communities, and the industry to learn, play and solve real-world problems with artificial intelligence.

CoralBot
Coral Reef Mapping Drone
Supported by Design Trust, MakerBay has been developing the “CoralBot” for mapping and conserving corals.
Recently we visited WWF Hong Kong Hoi Ha Marine Life Centre and organized a workshop, aiming at raising public awareness of the need for coral conservation. With the aid of artificial intelligence, no matter who you are, you can participate and help to conserve corals. Through developing the CoralBot, we are not only showing how we can conserve corals with novelties like AI but also attracting new comers to get involved in improving the bot.

Local Maker Map
There are a lot of developed makers/maker groups, forming a great network altogether. From individual craftsmen to companies and maker space on a larger scale, they are all inseparable parts of the whole maker culture.
We created this map to provide you with a nexus of contents about the local maker culture. As the maker scope will only continue to grow, YOU are also welcome to contribute to this map!
Touch Tung O
We visited Tung-O Ancient Trail, a road that connects Tai O, a traditional fishing village, and Tung Chung, the city that neighbors one of the busiest international airports in the world. We connected with the locals, and by using design thinking and other activities, we came up with solutions to help them improve their quality of life while maintaining their cultural identity.
