Impactful Invention – LifeStraw

LifeStraw is a Swiss brand which manufactures straws and water filling equipment containing built in water filtration systems. LifeStraw provides filtration to water supplies and filters out bacteria, microplastics, and parasites. These filtration systems are also made to filter out viruses and are designed for families and communities.

LifeStraw is trying to help communities in need who may have a damaged water supply. For example, during the 2010 Haiti Earthquake, 2010 Pakistan Floods and 2011 Thailand Floods, LifeStraw distributed their products to the people worst affected by the natural disasters. Furthermore, permanent LifeStraw filters were put in place in Rwanda, and have provided a safe water to a further 1 million school children in Kenya.

In general, LifeStraw has been a very beneficial invention, and looking to see what they have managed to achieve with their products, they have been very effective in both promoting their product and helping communities in need all over the globe.
