Funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Jockey Club AI Community Innovation Programme is a 2.5-year hands-on education programme, bringing together participants from schools, communities, and the industry to learn, play and solve real-world problems with artificial intelligence (AI). We will offer a variety of activities, including workshops, seminars and competitions, with the aim of:

Receive guidance from experienced mentors who help you to generate solutions, optimise your designs and turn your ideas into reality

Learn about AI technologies and tools with a step by step approach. It is easier than you think!

Meet people from all over the world and learn about outstanding innovative projects through the annual international Technovation Girls competition

You will have a chance to design your project based on real-world problems and create genuine impact on society and the environment with the support of cutting-edge technologies.

Schools & NGOs

Teaching materials developed based on the recognised curriculum by Technovation; diverse content covered in the workshops localised for Hong Kong youth, including AI hardware, mobile app development, problem-solving and design-thinking skills.

Flexible workshop arrangements to fit your students/beneficiaries availability, to be held at our space or your premises.


Help youth set and achieve goals, act as a sounding board for solutions to tricky problems, and crucially, help them develop their confidence and self-esteem.

You don’t need any prior knowledge and skills, as you will get all the support you need and become a capable AI mentor, step-by-step, through our capacity building workshops. Anyone passionate about learning AI-technologies or developing AI-related expertise can also join.

International Partners

Technovation is a global technology education nonprofit, empowering underserved groups to tackle problems in their communities with cutting-edge technologies, such as AI and coding. Over the years, it has supported more than 130,000 youths, 28,000 mentors and parents across 100+ countries. Since 2018, Technovation has been running the world’s largest AI-education competition, with 18 countries involved and engaging around 10,000 under-resourced 3rd to 8th grade  students and their parents in a 10-week programme.


For the community workshops, you are eligible if you are:

  • Underserved youth aged between 8-18 (recipients of the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme or the School Textbook Assistance (TA) Scheme) and their parents

For the capacity building workshops, you are eligible if you are:

  • Schools and NGOs; or
  • Professionals

Ms. Angie Zhou

Education Specialist

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Angie Zhou is an Education Specialist at MIT App Inventor. She was the founder and CEO of Dreams Come True in Shenzhen, where she developed online coding courses for kids. She also has previous curriculum development, teaching and staff training experience at First Code Academy in Hong Kong.



Hong Kong Red Swastika Society Tai Po Secondary School

Franky Poon is the Principal of Hong Kong Red Swastika Society Tai Po Secondary School and as the Specialist of Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications. Mr. Poon was seconded to EDB to provide support to over 80 local schools on catering for learner diversity and building inclusive ethos and measures. He is invited to be the Speakers in various tertiary education programs and teacher training courses to share experience on supporting students with diverse needs. He is also an author of various book chapters and journals as well as presenter at local and international conferences on how to enhance school’s capacity to cater for student diversity. He is the Project Lead of Jockey Club “Diversity at Schools” Project (2018-2024), which aims to enhance primary and secondary schools’ capacity to cater for learner diversity.

MR. Kevin Pereira

Blu Artificial Intelligence

Kevin Pereira is currently the Managing Director for Blu Artificial Intelligence, a consulting firm that specializes in Artificial Intelligence (AI), based in Hong Kong. Kevin has worked on consulting projects and is a major contributor to BLU’s knowledge base of AI applications in various industries. He is passionate about AI’s impact on society, including skillsets and job markets for the future, and also the ethical considerations involved with AI.

To this end, he has collaborated on articles and podcasts, and also spoken at numerous events and panels which have focused on the aforementioned topics. In addition, he has also delivered numerous AI workshops to members of innovation and strategy teams from a myriad of industries in multiple locations around the world.

He is also a part-time lecturer at HKU (University of Hong Kong) and HKUST (The HK University of Science and Technology) along with a number of other schools both in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pac region. His courses focus on Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and their applications in business.

MR. Alexander Ying

Alexander Ying is the Founder & CEO of DRESIO, an AI company dedicated to merging camera-based edge AI and exercise science to detect exercise skill levels and prevent injury. In less than a year from inception, Alex has led the company to acquire the IT & Smart Tech Award for the One Million Dollar Startup Competition from Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, and become one of the winners of the IPHatch Startup Competition 2019/20.

Alex’s background is in big data analytics and has a passion for AI. Prior to DRESIO, Alex co-founded Jumping Price Limited, pioneering in applying big data and machine learning into eCommerce retailing. He also has years of experience managing multi-million retail businesses for Cartier in Hong Kong & Macau, and as a renowned analytic & strategy consultant for international brands such as Coca-Cola, Abbott Laboratories, and Wrigley.

Ms. Bauhinia Lee

Founder & Impact Venture Builder

Anima Ventures

Bauhinia is an Impact Venture Builder and the Founder of Anima Ventures, a female-focused Venture Studio based in Hong Kong, with a mission to actively support female startup founders and bridge the funding gap in the ecosystem. She believes in building businesses with ‘purpose’, and advocates passionately for youth, diversity and inclusion, including gender and cognitive diversity.

As a multi-hatter “spinning multiple plates”, Bauhinia is the Co-Lead of the Hong Kong branch of SoGal Foundation, a global platform for diverse entrepreneurs and investors with 50 chapters across 6 continents. She is often a collaborator, moderator, and co-host of workshops, panels and seminars in support of women across Finance, startups and venture. She is most excited about synthesising ideas and innovation across different verticals and in Web 3.0.

Bauhinia started her career in Finance, trading FX and STIR at Credit Suisse in London and Zurich. She enjoys reading, philosophy, horse-riding and speaks six languages, including French, German and Spanish.

Ms. Clare Liu

Clare Liu is a data science Specialist at She is also a contributing author at several publications including Towards Data Science and KDnuggets. Her new video channel – AI Sensei was launched in March this year delivering innovative and cutting edge AI and Machine Learning knowledge in Hong Kong for everyone.

Prior to joining, Clare was working in DBS innovation and ecosystems team to drive various data-related projects in different teams and her major role was to involve in data mining research projects and bring innovative insights to her teammates.

MR. Clarence Cheung

Asia Pacific Regional head of business analytics, wholesale banking


Clarence Cheung is currently the Regional Head of Business Analytics at HSBC, leading a team to leverage advanced analytics to drive business outcome. Prior to joining the bank, Clarence has spent a decade as a management consultant, and in between corporate jobs worked in his family fashion trading business and founded 3 businesses including Add Fashion, 88beans, and Data Exchange.

Ms. Elena Kan

Currently the interim regional head of data and analytics at HSBC for Asia Pacific Wholesale businesses, which compromises of corporate customers from SMEs to multinationals. Previous experience include strategy development, M&A and advisory for financial institutions in Asia Pacific

MR. Eric Thain

Eric Thain is the General Manager of Brand & Customer for HK Express, overseeing all aspects of customer experience, brand, marketing, digital, social media, PR & CRM for HK Express. As the modern chief marketer, Eric spearheads the company’s customer-centric business transformation, championing growth through holistic CXM across all functional departments.

Eric is a hybrid experienced business leader with profound mixed discipline experience in developing Integrated Marketing Strategies and leading Digital Transformation projects across APAC (including a decade of in-market experience in China).

Eric is also Chair of the Artificial Intelligence Society of Hong Kong, pushing the role & integration of AI in the modern brand space. He sits on the Board of Advisors in various Marketing Associations, advising issues that affect the marketing industry. Eric is a recipient of numerous personal & team awards in marketing, including APAC Brand Communicator of The Year & ‘100 Smartest Digital Marketing Leaders’ by the World Digital Marketing Congress.

Ms. Esterina Nervino

Assistant Professor

City University of Hong Kong

Esterina Nervino is currently Assistant Professor at City University of Hong Kong holding a joint appointment at the Department of English and the Department of Marketing. She is also Junior Adjunct Professor of Intercultural Communication and Language Variation at the Universita’ degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia (Italy) and invited External Member of the Research Centre for Professional Communication in English at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and her research interests include social semiotics, multimodality, business communication, luxury studies in relation to art, space, sustainability, and retail experience.
Prior to CityU, Esterina was the Director of Retail in Asia (part of Bluebell Group) in charge of media brand operations including content selection, curation, edition, and commercial strategy. At Bluebell Group she also took on the role of Public Relations Lead working on internal/external communication and ESG strategy.
She also holds a M.A. in Foreign Languages for Business Communication from the Universita’ degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia (Italy), a B.A. in Language Mediation from the Universita’ degli Studi della Calabria (Italy), an Executive Education Certificate in Social Entrepreneurship from INSEAD (Singapore).

MR. Felix Wong



Felix is a growth marketer, with a passion for helping entrepreneurs succeed.

He is the Marketing Lead at CardUp, a fintech platform that allows payment or collection of big expenses using credit cards, where cards are not accepted today. He leads the marketing and growth in the Hong Kong region.

After getting a taste of Startup Weekend, Felix co-founded Cloudbreakr in 2015, an AI-powered marketing software designed to help brands analyze and engage with influencers.

As a startup community advocate, Felix previously served as a Community Manager for Techstars, where he spearheaded the ecosystem development in the Asia Pacific and Greater China region, in addition to leading efforts in corporate innovation and regional partnership. He was also the Head of Growth for AngelHub that offers equity crowdfunding investment for aspiring startups.

In his free time, Felix enjoys playing soccer, cycling, cooking pasta, and reveling in the Marvel Universe.

Ms. Karin Chan

Karin is the founder and CEO of Futurist Lab, an impact-driven start-up that pioneers application of Design Thinking into life and career planning. She partners with educators and corporates to offer extensive workshops to develop young talents’ career journey and help them think one step ahead into their professional and entrepreneurial future – adopting innovative thinking to realise career aspirations with methodology.

Prior to her latest venture, Karin was a core member of an EdTech firm incubated by Cyberport with a focus on ABCD (Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Cloud & Big Data). Not only is she actively engaging in the startup community, Karin also spent the last decade in the HR consulting industry offering leadership and soft skills training and serving clients spanning across multinational companies to rising startups. Her core belief in open-minded education and career planning leads her to identify individuals’ unique qualities and help them focus on their strengths with the leverage of the latest technology. Having lived in France and the United States, she is also passionate about connecting people across cultures.

Karin graduated with a bachelor degree in Hotel Management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. With customer-centric training in the hospitality industry, it shapes her approach of curating authentic personal branding for professionals to engage with different stakeholders in both private and public sectors.

MR. Kelvin Choy

Kelvin is a big believer in applying various Art Tech into movie making in Hong Kong. He has participated in movie production, distribution and sponsorship. In 2021, he won the Funding Scheme for Youth Entrepreneurship in the GBA and found iCreator limited. The mission of iCreator is to use emerging deep technology such as Artificial Intelligence to assist the current creative process. Kelvin was invited by Cyberport as a speaker of the Digital Entertainment Leadership Forum to share about “How AI Scripting will Change the Entertainment Production“.

Ms. Marianne N. Michaels

Marianne is a Rocket Scientist, published author, academic, and engineer.

She has acquired 20+ years of professional experience, and has applied this to her work at Fortune 500 multinational corporations (MNCs).

After receiving her Masters degree in Engineering in 2010, she began teaching, concurrently, while working full-time at the MNCs.

Also an Educator, for more than 15+ years, she has taught all levels, including postgraduate students. Subjects taught include: Data Science (Big Data), Mathematics, Engineering Design, IBM SPSS, Renewable Energy, and Quantitative Data Analysis.

She would like to share her enthusiasm with you, and hopes to provide a fun and enjoyable learning experience.

MR. Nicholas Ooi

Programme Manager of Lingnan Entrepreneurship Initiative

Lingnan University

Nicholas OOI (Nick) is currently the Programme Manager of the Lingnan Entrepreneurship Initiative (LEI) which promotes the concept of Social Innovation and cultivates innovation culture and entrepreneurial spirit in a liberal arts context at Lingnan University. Nick is experienced in conducting Design Thinking workshops for students and he has conducted more than 80 workshops with accumulations of a total of more than 600 training hours. After joined the Teaching and Learning Studio at Stanford d.School and Participatory Design Training from MIT D-Lab, he begins to design different artefacts to improve students learning from different design methods. Nick is currently one of the Faculty Innovation Fellows by the University Innovation Fellows Programme at Stanford d.School.

MR. Oscar Venhuis

I’m a serial problem solver with the capacity to transform complex ideas into market-ready products through the application of Business Design, an emergent design-doing discipline and that operates in the whitespace of three intertwining domains; organisational design, business strategies and innovation methods.

Nike, Adidas, UBS, Star Wars, and Asia Society are a few international brands that I have developed new services and products for.

Prior to EQ Lab I co-founded theDesk, a successful coworking workspace in Asia. My unorthodox approach to the collaborative workplace was recognised with a merit from Design For Asia and a Golden Pin Design Award.

I have a degree in Product Design (NL), studied at the prestigious Royal College of Art in London, ranked globally #1 for creativity, and completed a Masters Degree in Design Management (distinction, UK).

For General Assembly I have produced over 200 digital seminars and was the first instructor at GA to deliver UX Design workshops entirely remotely across the APAC region.

I’m a certified PADI Rescue Diver and an accredited Heineken Beer Pourer.

MR. Perkins Ho

Senior Strategic Program BD Manager


Perkins is currently Senior Business Development Manager of Hong Kong/ Taiwan Strategic Programs of AWS in Hong Kong. He is responsible for driving the Joint Innovation Centre initiative in Hong Kong to provide a total solution for the government to implement innovation strategies – startup incubation, industry digital transformation, talent development, education and international programs.
Prior to joining AWS, he was Head of Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation in the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He spearheaded efforts in building the ecosystem, identifying and preparing technologies with potential for commercialisation, incubating technology and social start-ups founded by students and professors, developing programmes to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship from within the University, and developing partnerships with stakeholders including governments, incubators and corporates in Greater China and other parts of the globe.
Perkins got his BSc in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and MSc in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University.

Mr. Victor Wong


Bridge AI

Victor is passionate about education. He strongly believes that children with learning challenges can discover their true potential if schools provide the right environment and remain relentlessly focused on providing high quality of teaching. He founded Bridge Academy in 2014, a school providing Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) services for children with learning difficulties aged 2 and above. More than 500 special education needs (SEN) children has received ABA services since 2014.

Victor has also found Bridge AI, a company using Artificial intelligence (AI), big data and video and audio communication systems to support e-learning of SEN children. He is now collaborating with Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research
Institute (ASTRI) in a project funded by the Hong Kong Innovative and Technology Bureau (ITB) to develop the Integrated Intelligent Intervention-learning system (3i-learning system) that tailors the individual needs so students with SEN.

Victor is a Doctor of Education student at The Education University of Hong Kong and holds a master’s degree in accounting from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is a speaker at IEEE conferences about next generation technologies for people with cognitive and learning disabilities.
